Why do you Smile?
The smile on a child's face can soothe any heart. I found my room turned upside down and in a state of grave mess. Apparently, my brother had ransacked my room in his bid to find where I had hidden his game boy. I must say that I was furious, but upon seeing that innocent yet mischievous smile carved on his face, I was flooded within with a great sense of love and momentarily lost all the energy and zeal I had to rain punishment on him. You see, a smile is contagious; it is powerful and has this aura of creating happiness. Why do we smile I asked myself. You might call this an apocryphal theory but here is a breakdown as to why we smile.
Some smile because they are happy
Some smile because they want to be happy
Some smile because of hatred that they can’t hide
Some smile because they’ve discovered love
Some smile because of the anger flaming within
Some smile because of the peace flowing within
Some smile out of sadness
Some smile out of joy
Some smile because they are hiding their emotions
Some smile because they are showing their emotions.
Some smile because they want others to see them smile
Some smile because they want to see others smile
Some smile because they don’t know what to do
Some smile because they just figured out what to do
Some smile because there is hope
Some smile because there is no hope
Some smile because of something
Some smile because of nothing
Whatever your reasons are for smiling, keep on smiling
Not just because it makes your face look pretty
But because you want to
Because it is good for you.
Did you know?
Apart from the obvious social benefits of smiling such as making us look more approachable and seeming more trustworthy,
did you know that a smile realises endorphins into our body, thereby reducing stress; it boots our immune system and increases our productivity and creativity.
Yeah right, great reasons to start smiling.
