I always had this weird dream of becoming a rich and famous teen celebrity. I did not become that but I did have my fair share of the
celebrity lifestyle. Teen years for me, was a growing up process. After all,
who wants to see a girl or boy in his or her twenties crying? I made a lots of
mistakes but the most important thing at the end of the day is that I matured.
I want to share with you some of the lessons I learnt during those years.
1.
Your parents are doing their best to raise you
up. Never argue with them. Rather respect them and show gratitude for all that
they do for you. Talk to them calmly whenever you need something from them.
2.
Trying to please people is so lame. If people
can’t accept you for who you are and not help bring out the best in you, then
you are better off being alone.
3.
Do not rush to date and experiment with sex. You
would be curious to know about it but sometimes, ignorance about it pays off.
4.
You would never regret putting lots of effort in
to your studies. The opposite is true if you do otherwise.
5.
Put lots of efforts into developing yourself.
Learn how to carry yourself and above all identify and utilise your talents.
6.
Pay attention to your health and looks. Drink
lots of water to make your skin look fresh always. Do exercise to keep in
shape.
7.
Surround yourself with the right kind of people.
Make friends with the right people who you share similar values with. It takes
effort to maintain a friendship as you have to try hard to maintain
communication, compromise and sacrifice for each other.
8.
Be confident in yourself and model who you
envision yourself to be in the future in your daily life.
9.
Use the social media wisely. Be mindful of the
things you post and the comment you make.
10.
Learn how to motivate yourself and stay positive
always.
11.
Do not harbour anger, resentment or hate towards
anyone. Take charge of your emotions. Do not let it control you.
12.
Never let the mistakes or insecurities of the
past hold you down from being better.
13.
Love your siblings and spend more time with them
even if they are annoying.
14.
Words are powerful, so think before you speak.
15.
Never let criticism bring you down. Rather be
the best person that you could ever be with the resources that you have despite
what they say.
16.
You are never too young to save or invest
17.
Some people are going to pretend to like you
when in fact they do not. Some would also genuinely like you.
18.
You are going to notice a lot of changes in your
body, your opinions about life and even in the people around you.
19.
Don’t compare yourself with others. Make goals
and set standards for success for yourself.
20.
You got learn how to speak up for yourself. And
be the best that you can ever be in any situation.
21.
You can’t change everything; such as someone’s
attitude or personal preference. Thus, you would have to adjust to those things
a couple of times in life.
You see, life is too short so savour every moment both the good and the bad. I may not know what awaits me in
my twenties but with optimism I’m facing those years. Definitely, I’m going to
make a difference in this world and above all, achieve all my goals.
