00:00. It poured.

| The cinematic clash of elements: Fire on ice |
That is what I scribbled into my journal entries. After weeks of being absolutely roasted by the summer heatwave—a chaotic experience I recently vented about right here—I had essentially transformed into a full-time weather reporter, ready to share my eureka moments with the masses. Finally getting this rain felt like receiving an early Christmas gift, or hearing a beautiful song written entirely in your name. It was a daydream that never ends.
It was so intensely expected that when the sky poured down the drops, it was the ultimate "speak of the devil" moment.
Suddenly, a brutal heatwave had turned all of us into amateur meteorologists. Summer is usually not a time when people go about meticulously measuring the temperature, but lately, we had been obsessed. We kept asking: “When will it finally be cool again?”
And then, it just rained! It felt like fire on ice. The oppressive heatwave subsided to the cool rain, completely mesmerized like a sailor caught in a hypnotizing mermaid song. Honestly? Fuck the heatwave. Who even needs Air Conditioner when the sky does this? For the environment lovers, the tiny mobile fan could finally be put away.
The rain always has a purpose. Perhaps a single raindrop is the exact miracle a man stranded in the desert needs under a scorching sun. Or perhaps it is what a man held in isolation needs, desperately quenching his thirst with the stray drops leaking from a cracked ceiling. When you look at it that way, you never see a storm as a simple inconvenience. You see it as a symbol of life.
My mind wanders to the Danish TV series on Netflix called The Rain, where a virus carried by the clouds creates an apocalyptic nightmare. In that world, the sky is a lethal threat that forces everyone inside out of pure terror.
But what if rain could be magical instead of monstrous? What if we could flip the narrative and turn a bad situation into a playground?
There are days when we just don’t want it to rain because of an outdoor event, or we just want to safely reach the cozy confines of our rooms first. But imagine if you could just catch a single raindrop, become safely embedded inside it, and be instantly transported to your wish destination—for many of us, straight home. Talk about next-level telekinesis!
For me, rain will always be tied to the wild, unfiltered joys of childhood rather than apocalyptic fears. When the downpours got heavy enough to trap us indoors, my cousins and I turned the house into an indoor water park. We would squirt liquid soap all over the tiled floors, wait for the humidity to slick the air, and slide back and forth across the hallway like penguins. It was chaotic, loud, and entirely weird—but it was pure bliss. Nothing beats that fresh breeze after a rainfall, or the memory of playing barefoot in the rich, wet soil, completely carefree.
So, I dare you to look at the glass as half full. Perspectives change depending on who is looking. Choose to see things positively.
I looked up at the sky today; it had a beautiful pattern and a few tiny, dark clouds. I smiled and whispered, "I see you."
